Chifumuro

Feeding heads with lies

Warm greetings to the people of Chitungwiza, Seke and Manyame areas.

By way of introductions I must say that, I am proud to be one of the few privileged Zimbabweans, if not the only fortunate one, who has only one name.

Yes, one name, no first name then surname. I am Chifumuro, period, just like, Pele the football legend.

The two of us belong to the same class of excellence. One jealousy-inclined comrade once challenged me on that one though.

There is Bob, ED, Tsvangison, Nero, Wiwa, he would argue.

He would go on and on in a failed attempt to prove me wrong. Failed attempt is a bit light, the failure failed to realized that I am no politician. I abhor politics.

The failed guy could not see that, he could not compare me with the political gurus. But I forgive him.

He is all politics, the type that hates a neighbour because they do not support the same political parties.

That lot is plenty here, particularly on social media.

They feed their heads with lies, spruce up their egos with the misinformation and disinformation which the gullible treat as fact. Exceptions are there though.

The people who own this paper and gave me this space realised that.

But it was after a few brushes with them that I knocked some sense into them. Back to my one and only name, Chifumuro.

Instructive is that the name-bearer always strives not to beat about the bush in exposing the shenanigans of the custodians of our never-ending sewer burst challenges and perennial shortages of potable water among other service delivery ills.

The groping ass licking brigades, the entrenched corruption networks, the lies, the gross double dealing and dipping will all  be laid bare.

But, I can’t mention the names. Therein lies my challenge. Why?

It’s certainly not because my pockets can’t afford the never-ending court battles that are bankrolled by ill-gotten dollars from the Unites States.

That is what riles me the most, these corrupt-heads hate our local currency with a passion. But do not be quick to distress.

As I said at the beginning, names are nothing, that is why I chose only to have one name. Mark my words, it’s pretty dangerous to have too many names.

That reminds me of the mutupo (totems) cases. Read carefully zvamuri imi, I did not say curses.

The corrupt ones love this names and mutupo business. “Zvamuri Chihera amai vangu chaivo nhaimi. “Zvamuri Soko sekuru wa sekuru vangu chaivo.”

Sounds familiar?

Yes, that is the escape route of the corrupt-brigades when they are in a tight spot. It’s there corruption entry pitch. The other one is: “Surname yenyu ndeye kumusha kwedu ka iyi?”

Don’t get me wrong though, there is nothing wrong with our culture, I am proud of it. But there is every wrong with those bent on abusing it, those who take every opportunity to corrupt it.

It’s in their corrupt nature, their DNA. Worse still, when someone does not play ball, they spitefully give them new names.

“He is a CIO, he is a Political Sellout” are the new labels.

Political Sellout Chifumuro is the new name they give you! My foot! I am not panic-liking person but I am astounded with such shameless hypocrisy.

Why? It’s because the shamelessly corrupt accusers are the real culprits.

When they sleep in bed together their political affiliations are not a barrier. It’s not selling out.

It’s all about money stupid. Is their answer.

Time to pen off. Too much of anything is not good. We meet next week as we go deeper.
