Fake police nabbed for US$600 robbery

The pair introduced themselves as members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and President’s Office before attacking the victim and stealing US$600 cash.

Police have arrested in Harare Cephas Nyamajiwa (25) on kidnapping, robbery and impersonation charges.

Nyamajiwa together with an accomplice, only identified as Manyerere, forced the victim in their motor vehicle, a Toyota Chaser , registration number ADE 2313, on 6 April this year at a bus stop along Seke Road in Graniteside.

The pair introduced themselves as members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and President’s Office before attacking the victim and stealing US$600 cash.

The victim was dumped at Chikwanha Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza

Swift reaction by the police following a report made by the victim led to the arrest of Nyamajiwa and recovery of the suspects’ getaway vehicle and a pair of handcuffs.

Faulty fridge door lands Capri in Court

A HARARE woman has sued Capri Alliances (Pvt) Ltd US$25 000 after the door of a fridge she  had bought from the company collapsed on her causing physical injuries and trauma.

Rosalind Jean Austin who is being represented  by Magadure Legal Practice  alleges  that on 1 November 2023 the fridge door came off its hinges and  collapsed on  her causing severe arm, neck and back pain and psychological trauma.

 Austin added that contrary to the fridge’s warranty, various faults  also occurred. 

The faults which the complainant later attended to were from  the compressor and a water dispenser leak.

Prison guard jailed three years for theft

Luck run out for Dube on 19 April 2024 when a witness who was among the team of inmates, was granted Presidential Amnesty.

TABLES turned for a Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service officer, Mpumelelo Dube (32) who will languish in jail for three years for theft of decoders after being sold out by a former inmate.

Dube, who was found guilty at Gwanda Magistrates Court, was sentenced to five years imprisonment of which two years were suspended.

According to the State on 13 April 2024 Dube escorted a group of six inmates who had gone to offload goods at Matson Investments.

After offloading the goods, the complainant discovered that various groceries including five Open View Decoders were missing.

 She did not report the matter, but decided to conduct her own investigations first.

However luck run out for Dube on 19 April 2024 when a witness who was among the team of inmates, was granted Presidential Amnesty.

The inmate then spilled the beans to the complainant that it was Dube who had stolen the decoders.

A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person and recovery of the decoders.

The total value stolen is ZAR 4500 and ZAR 3 600 was recovered.
