… councillors read riot act to acting Chitown TC
By ALBERT MASAKA
CHITUNGWIZA chamber secretary, Japson Nemuseso risks losing his current acting town clerk position following a serious fall-out with councillors due to his failure to manage the rapidly declining level of service delivery in the corruption-ridden municipality, in a move that also reduces his chances of becoming the substantive town clerk.
This came out during a heated debate among councillors in Friday’s full council meeting on the deplorable level of sewer blockages in Chitungwiza.
The debate was precipitated by Chitungwiza mayor councillor Rosaria Mangoma who expressed her concerns on the failure the Public Works Committee to ensure that the engineering department resolves the sewer challenges bedeviling the town.
In response, Councillor Musa Makweza did not mince his words while issuing a warning to Nemuseso to either reign in his errant management team, most of whom are also in acting positions, or face the axe as acting town clerk.
“From now onwards if your managers continue to fail to implement our resolutions I will personally propose for your removal from that chair so that there is someone else who will be able to supervise those people.
“Because I can’t hide the truth, if you see your managers failing to implement (resolutions), then we have nothing to do with those managers, we will deal with you accordingly.”
