US$5 armed robber jailed 14 yrs

AN armed robber who stole $5 from a motorist after threatening to shoot him will languish in jail after a Harare magistrate slapped him with a 20-year jail term with six years suspended conditionally.
Blessing Moyo appeared before Harare Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi, facing two counts of armed robbery.
According to the State led by Cecilia Mashingaidze, Moyo and an accomplice who is on the run, were offered a ride from Chitungwiza to Harare by King Kamungeremu.
Moyo’s accomplice, who seated in the front, brandished a pistol at Manyame River bridge and demanded valuables from the driver.
Kamungeremu, who surrendered his wallet containing US$5, was then ordered to drive towards Kabrit Zimbabwe National Army main camp.

Following the accident, the complainant appealed for help and at that moment Moyo’s accomplice managed to flee from the accident scene.
However, Moyo remained trapped in the car.
Other motorists came to assist Kamungeremu in apprehending Moyo and handed him over to the police.
A pellet gun used by the robbers was recovered.
